Baxenden Chemicals, a Chemtura Company, has opened new, state-of-the-art laboratories to support further growth in its range of Witcobond® polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) at the company’s Droitwich UK site.
The new centre of excellence is part of Baxenden’s investment in an expanding business area for the company. The new facility also paves the way for the introduction of additional PUD capacity, which will be commissioned in the second quarter of 2008.

Baxenden invests in new reactor venting system |

Baxenden Chemicals has recently installed a new reactor venting system at its Accrington, UK site. The installation, costing in excess of £1M, was part of an assessment of site arrangements for pressure relief. The new equipment is designed to safely relieve reactor over pressurization and includes reactor relief vents, new catch tanks with cyclonic separators and a vent cooler with a dispersion stack.
