Golf Putters Made with Bayer Polymers’ Texin® TPU Score A Hole-In-One

From the PGA Tour-proven Sync putter models to the revolutionary interchangeable ProF.I.T. (Professionally proven Face Insert Technology) putter series, STX Golf’s innovative use of Bayer Polymers’ Texin® thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) makes its putters – the “putters of choice.” Bayer’s Texin TPU is used to form the green face inserts of two models of STX putters: the Sync Tour and the Sync 3 (which is PGA Tour Professional Scott McCarron’s favorite).

According to STX Chairman of the Board Dick Tucker, “By replacing the putter’s metal face with Texin TPU, golfers experience enhanced feel and precise feedback. The Texin TPU insert increases dwell time upon contact which provides superb directional control and accuracy.” In addition to its performance characteristics, STX Golf utilizes Bayer Polymers’ Texin TPU for its durability as well as its chemical and abrasion resistance qualities.

“We have been so pleased with the Texin TPU used in the Sync models that we have utilized the more resistant Texin TPU in the overmold or shell of our latest ProF.I.T. putter series. Its inherent flexibility and hardness made it a perfect choice,” Tucker added.

STX ProF.I.T. putters maximize the advantage of Face Insert Technology by offering multiple inserts for three different styles of putters. Because the inserts are so easy to change, golfers have ultimate control of key putting dynamics such as pace, dwell time, directional control and skidding of the golf ball. Players can effortlessly adapt their ProF.I.T. putter to different course conditions, ball properties, feedback preferences or individual putting style by selecting the insert with the best hardness, feel, weight, and face friction.

Six proprietary inserts are available for each ProF.I.T. model. Three different materials are offered with two different weights. Each material varies in degree of hardness and energy absorbing properties. Bayer Polymers’ Texin TPU is used in the firmer green insert.

“Bayer Polymers’ Texin TPU provided us with a wealth of properties. Now, we use Texin TPU in the application of the overmold as well as in the inserts. We intend to take advantage of its unique properties to develop other products. It will be interesting to see how we use it in the future,” Tucker concluded.

STX Golf was the first putter company to pioneer and patent face insert technology in the early 1980s. Since that time, the company has consistently led the industry in implementing new standards of innovation, while conforming to USGA rules.
